Come to Bren Sibilsky Sculpture in Algoma during the August 12^th ArtWave to explore many different fine art pieces and even create your own masterpiece! Kimberly Lyon will be setting up a “Jewelry Bar” with components to create your own piece of fused glass jewelry. For $15 you will be able to choose a base and topping glass plus other glass pieces to layer in between. Jewelry bails will also be available for you to use to finish the piece after firing. There will be many different kinds of glass, so you will be able to create an original art piece in your own unique style. The pieces will be kiln-fired and annealed and will be ready to pick up later that weekend or during the following week. For a small additional fee the item can be mailed. Visitors will also be able to purchase self-hardening clay on site to create their own free form sculpture to take home!

Kim is owner of Ladybug Glass Studio in Casco. She is originally from California and started her glass art business in New York before moving to Casco with her husband John who teaches at UWGB.

Bren Sibilsky Sculpture is located a mile and a half from Lake Michigan, just west of Algoma on Fremont Street. The studio is housed on an old Belgian farmstead in a charming, refurbished machine shed. The property is filled with flowers and the adjacent fields have grazing horses. Bren’s Sibilsky Sculpture is a perfect place for visitors to explore award winning sculpture and the remarkable artworks of six other artists who show with Bren. Algomaʼs “Art Wave” Features Pottery Demo at “Clay on Steele”

Kris Kolinski plans to make several large pots on the sidewalk in front of his pottery studio, ”Clay on Steele” Friday, July 8 between 4pm and 8pm. This activity is one of several “happenings” during Algomaʼs once monthly “Art Wave” event. Also featured at the July Art Wave are Bren Silbilsky Sculpture studio, Steele Street Floral and several “phantom store “ windows .

Located at 221 Steele Street, Clay on Steele is a pottery and fine arts gallery.  It features a number of local artists who specialize in painting, sculpture, paper making and pottery. Just  a  half block west at 300 Steele Street, is the Steele St. Floral shop.  Much more than flowers, it features the arts and  crafts of many local artists.  The Kewaunee Academy of Fine Art, which is a part of Art Wave will not be open on this occasion as they are on vacation. Located on the west edge of town at E 5977 Fremont Rd, is the   of Bren Silbilsky, internationally known sculptor.  Bren will be sculpting a clay image of her horse, weather permitting.  Also showing her work at the Silbilsky Studio  is Kim Lyon, award-winning glass artist.  Six additional artistsʼwork are also being shown at Silbilskyʼs.

The “Phantom Windows” project is a work-in-progress.  Several artists are using empty store windows to display their art using changing themes each month.  A map of “Phantom windows” locations will be available at each of the studios.
